Kava is naturally high in the compound kavalactone which has a gentle sedative effect, targeting the muscles and giving a muscle melting relax as well as a light sense of euphoria while the consumer retains 100% presence of thought. Dried Piper Methysticum (Noble Kava) roots are ground into powder which is then kneaded in warm water to make the Kava drink. High in kavalactones, Piper Methysticum is a part of the pepper family and traditionally used in the Pacific Islands as a part of ceremony and gentle socialisation.

The region of Vanuatu is known to have the highest kavalactone content in the various strains of kava that grow in the region. As the Islands throughout the Pacific are scattered and isolated, different strains have naturally developed over thousands of years. Nakamal Malok specialises in sourcing direct from the Island from where the kava strain originated. Soil and weather conditions unique to that Island combined with the absence of other introduced cultivars ensure that that particular kava strain is maintained with all of its own unique set of elements.

Boronborou, also known as Borogou and other variations of the local dialects on the Island of Pentecost. Pentecost is home to some of the strongest kava in the world, with a particular strain they call 2 Day kava - meaning you feel the effects for 48 hours. Fortunately (or unfortunately?!) that variety is not Noble kava and so prohibited for import into Australia. Needless to say our Pentecost Noble kava product is also nice and strong. It has long lasting effect and smoother less peppery taste. It is very much enjoyed by the young local men in Pentecost to help calm their nerves at their Initiation Ceremony bungee jump from the Village made scaffold. They are held to dear life only by a piece of vine tied around their ankle, which will hopefully stop them from banging their noggins on the hard ground below.
